I did myself a big favor and got some work done in the studio today and yesterday. It felt really good to just paint
I had a charcoal outline of a veery bird clenched in a hand hanging out on this small canvas for… oh I dunno… two weeks? Last night after spending many hours working on a different painting I decided to throw some paint on it and see what happened. Also, I figured out how to do new cool stuff with my camera, so I had this self portrait to work with. I think this may be the dawn of something (beautiful?) with self-portraiture.

I know the hand is all messed up, but the paint needs to dry a bit before I can work on it any more.
Of course, I continued to work on this strange field painting. It’s pretty close to done. How can I tell? I’m getting annoyed with it. LOLs.
Aaand I have a drawing for another new painting that I am biting at the bit to start!
About a month and half ago, I went to Portsmouth to go fishing with my brother, nephew & fiance. There was a dead seagull carcass there. I was immediately intrigued and snapped a picture on my fiance’s phone. Much to my surprise, the photo came out pretty good and I have been pondering over how I was going to use it ever since. Now I just need to decide what I want to paint it on. Paper? Panel? Canvas???
Finally, when I was in PA checking out Carnegie Mellon I took some pics of abandoned, decaying buildings. They will also def. be the subject of some future work. I will leave you with a couple snapshots. XOXO Readers.
